The Cress family has contributed its skills in graduate electrical and mechanical engineering and thermodynamics to the design of professional, fine quality firing equipment. Cress has been at the forefront of firing processes for much of its history, being first in our field with UL listing of ceramic kilns ultra reliable element connections infinitely variable power controls and with inexpensive automated firing. Turn on your kiln.We manufacture, export and distribute heat treating furnaces for metal, quartz glass, industrial ceramics, jewelry, porcelain, pottery ornamental ceramics and many other applications. Put your index finger in the Kiln Sitter's weight hole and push the plunger firmly until it locks. If you are using a large kiln, remove the bottom peephole plug as well. Allow your kiln to ventilate by removing the top peephole plug from your kiln. As a safety shut-off device, the limit timer knob will keep your kiln from over-firing if the Kiln Sitter fails to turn off on its own.

Set your limit timer knob to 15 to 30 minutes after the kiln firing time. Proper placement will support the weight by keeping the trigger claw engaged without you holding it. The center of the cone or bar should be parallel with the end of the Kiln Sitter's tube. Align the inside edge of the cone's number circle with the outside edge of the cone support. Simultaneously, flatten your firing cone or bar on the cone support. The release claw is in the middle of the guide plate.

Lift it up against the rectangular guide plate on the front plate. Locate the weight extension on the front plate of the LT-3K. Ensure that you can also see the LT-3K's cone support above the kiln. The normal shut-off function should be fully visible. Wait until the kiln wash dries completely. Apply a thin coat of kiln wash to the cone support and sensing rod. Locate the metal cone support affixed to the firing gauge at the end of the tube on the model LT-3K. Manufacturer of Kilns & Heat Treating Furnaces The LT-3K model also has a back-up electric lock that activates and turns a kiln off in the event that the heated cones fail. Although not fool-proof, the Kiln Sitter is designed to use heated cones or bars that will turn off a kiln before it over-fires. Once adequate time and temperature settings are tested and proven, the heat- and corrosion- resistant Kiln Sitter LT-3K can be used continually for error-free ceramic making. Ok I emailed him asking for the electrical rating and a photo of the serial plate. Earthroamer 2020ĭo you have a link to a site where it's listed? Model K is the model of the Kiln Sitter shutoff device, not the model of the kiln. The photos are so tiny that I can't see any detail. If you can get a good picture of the electrical rating plate on the side of the control box, we can learn more about it. I can't determine which Cress model it might be because the pictures are too small. Would this be good for a beginner who has never had a kiln before? The designation "Model K" relates to the kiln sitter, not the kiln.

I can find nothing about this model on the Cress website. By Lynda4 hours ago in Equipment Use and Repair.
